Does being beautiful make a woman beautiful in God's eyes? The media and society tells us that we have to be beautiful in order to be happy. Heaven forbid if don’t get rid of our wrinkles and blemishes! We should have a pencil thin figure and we need to cover up the grey in our hair as we are getting older.
Society, movies, magazines and TV dictates to our young girls that they need to dress and look like the latest young celebrity or model. How do we compete with all of this hype? How do we win the war for the hearts and minds of our young girls? It is a constant struggle for every family to keep their daughters pure and following the values that as parents they have set down for them.
Girls want to be beautiful and after all God did create women to be beautiful so if a woman loses her physical beauty is she then ugly to God? Let’s see what He says. In Proverbs 31:30 He tells us that beauty is vain, it’s passing, it doesn’t last, “…but a woman that fears the Lord, she shall be praised”! The word fear means to respect and revere. She holds Him in high esteem! God loves a woman who honors Him! Her thoughts are pure, she speaks with wisdom, and she orders her tongue to only speak words that are kind, uplifting and encouraging. She doesn't gossip or pass judgment on others that she doesn't agree with, and she shows respect for others. She reflects the Father and Jesus Christ in every action she takes! This is the woman and young girl who istruly beautiful in God’s eyes! This is the woman that God loves!
This is what we must be teaching our daughters and granddaughters; that they should love God more than anything or anyone else! They need to know that God loves them and He has a plan for them, and that plan is for them to become beautiful in His eyes, not the world’s eyes.
